Although I agree, I think she was successful in the aim of making Trump look unpalatable to several more groups. I fear that she will succeed in winning the presidency, do to a combination of handouts and flattering emotional people with a pretty painting that she tricks voters into hoping she can produce but cannot.

I think Trump was pretty successful making her own this economy.
Gas prices went up another 10 cents today in my area.
    The economy mattyers most Ithink.

    Lol, you're deflecting.
Kamala is famous for her word salads.

Harris on diplomacy: "We will assist Jamaica in COVID recovery by assisting in terms of the recovery efforts in Jamaica"

"I think that, to be very honest with you, I do believe that we should have rightly believed, but we certainly believe that certain issues are just settled. Certain issues are just settled."

You need to be able to go where you need to go if you want to go there and do the work you are supposed to do when you arrive.

Save the moment that relates to the past and remember it in the future. Thats how you're able to contextualize the present.

The significance of the passage of time is much more significant than what we would like to think. It's, in fact, a significant significance. One that signifies a lot, whether you consider it or you don't.

Every day, it's time for us to agree that time is passing faster than we thought yesterday. We need to look at the time now because if we do it later, it won't be the same time.

When you look at a coconut tree, you realize it's contextual. There's no coconut tree without your previously lived experience that came before, and you can't be certain that the coconut tree will be there in the future, unless you, too, are there, with it, in consequential mindfulness.

There are things we know, and there are things we don't know yet. Based on what we have seen, we know.

Yeah, I think Trump is making the same mistake he did 4 years ago by
targeting most of his message towards his loyal base and not towards the undecided voters and moderate thinkers. He did a good job of that in 2016
but completely failed to in 2020 and seems to be missing the mark again.

Kamala, OTOH, seems to be at least talking a good talk when it comes to moving more towards center than she previously seemed to be.

The one thing that might save Trump is how many of those undecides and moderates decide to hold her accountable for what has happened the past
four years vs. believing that she is really a different option from the
    current administration.

I wanted to hear more about who Kamala is and what she believes, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards. Neither her or the media are interested in being revelatory. Everyone who votes for her will just have to hope for good things. I'm not that trusting.

At least with Trump, I know what I am getting. A guy that the entire US government and political machine feels threatened by and wants to eliminate (assassinate) from running for any public office. He did what he could in the four years he was President and I am happy to give him four more years to work on it some more. I hope he can do a bit of swamp-draining before his enemies can find a better sharp-shooter, if he can overcome the various mechanisms and agencies twisted against him and win the electoral college.

Kamala could do anything with the Presidency and no one can hold her to account for campaign promises she was never required to make. They ejected Biden and anointed Kamala in a party coup and she has every chance of gliding into the presidency through the Democrat election machine and by simply saying she is anti-Trump (while co-opting many of his initiatives). Any random person could be made President in the same way. That is what Kamie is - the random (yet pre-politically corrupted) person Biden picked for his "black woman" veep to placate certain interest groups. I see why my Demo friends like her - any one of them could have BEEN her. I don't think the Demo party really knows much about Harris, either. They just want ANYBODY but Trump - and Kamala fits the definition of ANYBODY.

I don't know her politics outside of prosecuting cases brought to her - she was only a senator for less than one term and a very small and totally un-publicized voting record before she tried for the presidency and failed into the vice-presidency. We don't know what she stands for (she didn't have much time to stand for much of anything.) and she is not going to make statements about such things at this juncture. She may well have prosecuted illegals in California but she had no interest in dealing with them in Washington, so I don't really know how she "feels" about immigration (the one thing she did as AG that seemed interesting to let her play with as VP). She just supported Joe Biden as VP and then (loyally?) stepped over his failing (now vanished?) body to become an unchallenged presidential nominee.

Doesn't inspire my vote at all. I can't see how it could inspire anyone's vote, but there are apparently half of Americans who hate Donald Trump so much they would vote for ANYONE else. If Kamie wins, I hold such people TOTALLY responsible for whatever happens next. And don't try that "lesser of two evils" tripe - You have no idea if Kamie is better or worse than Trump. She could be the "great whore of all the earth" for all you know - maybe Satan (he hides his agenda, too) in a pant-suit.

I suppose most Dems are willing to let the unknown quantity loose. I will laugh if she sells you down the river and enslaves you to your government "mommies" for "your own good". Suckle while you can.

Biden did the right thing by dropping out. Trump should do the same thing, he's mentally unfit for the job.

"Just think of it. We would be in World War Two very quickly if we're going to be relying on this man, and far more devastating than any war."

(Another Trump quote from the same speech a year ago where he forogot he would be running against Biden, and suggested that his opponent was Obama. )

social media is full of people laughing at his word salad rambling. It's been an ongoing joke for the last 8+ years, and it's only gotten worse.

Kamala is famous for her word salads. [quote from Denn]
...And Trump isn't? See below for an example, from his talk with the
Economic Club of New York last Thursday:

President Trump, you - you talked about how the increase in the price of
food, gas and rent is hurting families, but the real cost that's
breaking families' backs and preventing women from participating in the
workforce is child care. Child care is now more expensive than rent for
working families and is costing the economy more than $122 billion a
year, making it one of the most urgent economic issues that is facing
our country. In fact, the cost of child care is outpacing the cost of
inflation, with the majority of American families of young children
spending more than 20% of their income on child care. One thing that
Democrats and Republicans have in common is that both parties talk a lot
about what they're going to do to address the child care crisis, but
neither party has delivered meaningful change. If you win in November,
can you commit to prioritizing legislation to make child care
affordable? And if so, what specific piece of legislation will you
     advance?
     [question from Reshma Saujani]
Well, I would do that. And we're sitting down - you know, I was
somebody - we had - Sen. Marco Rubio and my daughter Ivanka were so
impactful on that issue. It's a very important issue. But I think when
you talk about the kind of numbers that I'm talking about, that -
because, look, child care is child care. It's - couldn't - you know,
it's something - you have to have it. In this country, you have to
have it. But when you talk about those numbers compared to the kind of
numbers that I'm talking about by taxing foreign nations at levels
that they're not used to, but they'll get used to it very quickly -
and it's not going to stop them from doing business with us but
they'll have a very substantial tax when they send product into our
country. Those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers that we're
talking about, including child care. That - it's going to take care -
we're going to have - I - I look forward to having no deficits within
a fairly short period of time, coupled with the reductions that I told
you about on waste and fraud and all of the other things that are
going on in our country. Because I have to say with child care - I
want to stay with child care - but those numbers are small relative
to the kind of economic numbers that I'm talking about, including
growth, but growth also headed up by what the plan is that I just -
that I just told you about. We're going to be taking in trillions of
dollars. And as much as child care is talked about as being
expensive, it's, relatively speaking, not very expensive compared to
the kind of numbers we'll be taking in. We're going to make this into
an incredible country that can afford to take care of its people, and
then we'll worry about the rest of the world. Let's help other
people, but we're going to take care of our country first. This is
about America first, it's about Make America Great Again. We have to
do it because right now we're a failing nation. So we'll take care of
it. Thank you. Very good question.

Yep, and there are local sources there in Ohio for the story.
You know it must be true when the leftwing media acts like it's been debunked.
Like the Russia hoax and the Hunter Laptop.

    NBC
Former President Donald Trump, during Tuesday's presidential debate, repeated a baseless and sensationalist claim about Haitian immigrants in Ohio eating dogs and other pets.

    NPR
Vance, who represents Ohio in the U.S. Senate, spread a debunked claim about Haitian migrants living in the city of Springfield, Ohio, on Monday.

    BBC
Donald Trump claimed immigrants in a small Ohio city were eating pets, but there's no proof of this.

    AP NEWS
Former President Donald Trump has amplified false rumors that Haitian immigrants in Ohio are abducting and eating pets.

    Rueters
A viral narrative suggesting Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, are stealing residents' pets or taking wildlife from parks for food .

and when this story is proven to be true they'll go silent on the matter.

know" or "the lesser of two evils" and not the best person for the job.

I don't know her politics outside of prosecuting cases brought to her - she wa
only a senator for less than one term and a very small and totally un-publicized voting record before she tried for the presidency and failed int
the vice-presidency. She just supported Joe
Biden as VP and then (loyally?) stepped over his failing (now vanished?) body to become an unchallenged presidential nominee.

Well, if you go back and look at her prosecution record, there are those
that claim it is full of things that contradict things she says now. I
have not looked too close, so that could be true or not.

Per CNN, in 2019, the non-partisan GovTrack organization ranked her as the "most liberal Senator" in the then-current Senate. That was a Senate that included Sanders and Warren.

    https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/17/politics/kamala-harris-most-liberal-senator-fact-
    heck/index.html

Doesn't inspire my vote at all. I can't see how it could inspire anyone's vote, but there are apparently half of Americans who hate Donald Trump so much
they would vote for ANYONE else.

Yes, they were willing to vote for Biden even thought it was obvious before
the debate that he was failing mentally.

I suppose most Dems are willing to let the unknown quantity loose. I will laug
if she sells you down the river and enslaves you to your government "mommies" for "your own good". Suckle while you can.

I am not a Dem and she doesn't really inspire me. Many of your more leftist Dems won't even notice (or care) if she sells them down a river. ;)

Yep, and there are local sources there in Ohio for the story.

When I search for them, the local Ohio sources (example - The Canton Repository, the Ohio DNR) are also debunking the claims, or are claiming that the reports cannot be verified. Where are you finding Ohio sources that state the claims are true?

    The economy mattyers most Ithink.
The problem is gasoline being inflated since Putin invaded Ukraine, the
price has taken almost 18 months plus to recover from that.

That is why I used "supposedly." The citations I have seen for it are not

In a specific case of it happening in New York, the NY Post claimed it was true, while Military Times claims it is false. I would tend to believe the latter.

Both Fox and CNN are bullshit. Actually, I made the claim originally. When asked, I gave two sources that contradicted each other (NY Post, Military Times) and suggested I am apt to believe the latter even though it contridicted my initial post.

I also posted a link from Snopes that disproved a claim you made later on in this thread about Trump using derogatory terms to refer to dead service members.

That argument also sounds like a way of saying "I'm too lazy to provide a link to back up what I'm saying; you look it up."

That is because I have discovered reposting the same information once and again and again becomes tedious after a while. I am not talking specifically about this discussion, but geeze, there are some subjects that are both common knowledge and docummented, and when you bring them up somebody asks for a source.

They don't ask for a source because they are curious, mind you; they ask for a source as a way to declare "haha, you said something without a source, now suck my cock!" So when you bother to provide a source, it does not matter because by the time you post it they have already moved on. They never cared.

A week later a different person does the same thing regarding the same topic. Multiply it three more times and then it becomes obvious asking for certain sources of information is a dishonest practice and nobody should be playing ball.

I'm not talking about things that are common knowlege. I've often seen people post things regarding information that isn't well known, and then offer nothing to back it up, which is why people ask for a source.

Or, alternately, people mention something as an argument to something else, but the information seems dubious, yet they don't provide a source.

That's what "Fact checking" is about.
If someone dosen't believe something I said then they should fact check me.
When you provide sources they ignore it 9 out of 10 times anyway, or they say the sources are wrong or inaccurate, many times sources these days are inaccurate, thats why when I fact check I use multiple sources left and right leaning.

I moderate an echo on another network. I have gotten tired of providing
the links and quotes from said links to persons who will either (1) always ignore the information provided, or (2) will read the information and
change their tune, only to show up a couple of weeks later (after their "leader" has brought the fake info up again as real) acting as if no one
has ever shown them any proof otherwise.

Group 2 may be worse than Group 1 because Group 2 people usually wait just
long enough for me to have lost the links and I have to look them up all over again.

Myself, I think that's far too old. (For context, I thought there was one federal retirement age, but no, the federal employee benefit plan makes it much more complicated than that. The oldest immediate retirement age under that plan is 62 with five years of service.)

Yes most public sector plans require 5 years to vest, i still need 2
years 11 months to get like 350 a month for life when I turn 60.

When you cherry-pick some comments/actions/inactions, you can say that about any politician you want to. It's all a matter of context, and
which "side" you're on. Let me know if you need a list of gaffs/slights produced by the current administration on this subject.
many of these accusations are cherry picked to defame trump such as the
dead solider from texas where the sister of the one died said the
atlantic magazine writer lied big time.

I believe that was my point, wasn't it?

Also, you snipped most of the context from a months-old post, so it's difficult to remember what is even being talked about here.
