I haven't watched SNL very much in years.
I think around 2005, they started releasing DVD sets of entire SNL seasons. think they only released the first 2 or 3 seasons though, before running int licensing issues with the live music content and such. I was hoping they'd keep releasing those DVD sets - I would have bought much of the late 80s through the 90s. I imagine they probably have all that footage sitting in closets somewhere..
Love Dio and Priest, but what about Bruce Dickenson?
GWAR is my favorite band of all time, in case it wasn't obvious.
Zombies, March!

I like bruce a lot. He is an extremely well-controlled vocalist.
But from a pure singing standpoint, he doesn't hold a candle to Rob or Dio.
A vocal coach will praise his sustain, his ability to hold a note, his ability to go from low to shriek in an instant, and they are right. One of the most power rock voices ever.
HOWEVER,
Rob and Ronnie could sing like angels.
Or demons.
Or rockers.
Or whatever the hell they wanted to sound like, and that's the diff.
Thanks,

Urungus was Urobvious... I figured as much.
GWAR was talented.
When I was younger I rented the VHS tape of Scumdogs of the Universe and back then I thought slymenstra hymen was hot.
Unlike many of my friends who thought they were a gimmick, I actually thought they were a really talented group of musicians. I didn't really care for them, but they rocked the fuck out. Maggots.
I put them in the same class as Man o War... Extremely hard fucking rockers, loud, but not in my list of favorites.
Thanks,

It's pretty obvious. They're one of my favorites as well.

I was in the pit for a show shortly before Bloody Pit of Horror was released. That's the show that made me realize I was officially too old for such things.
Now I just buy VIP balcony tickets for Gwar shows, so I can sit and watch the spectacle. I don't feel like I'm missing out, because I've been there before.

I am starting up a new service on my BBS, I have a Limnear tracking turntable, and over 300 records.... I will be recording them and I might be putting them up on my BBS as MP3 files , the sound is impeccable as I have a Sony 100 watt amp and a Soundblaster Audigy card, but satill nothing beats the sound of vinyl. I have 4 sound dynamics speakers and 4 sony speakers, all 8 connected with a tower (8 more speakers) lying on is side.... for a total of 16 speakers .... if anyone wants to know what albums I have feel free to ask. Russ
It will be on Spy Visits Spy BBS at telnet://spyvisitsspybbs.com , Right now i have a few records recorded, but you are right, nothing beats Vinyl, I am running a 100 Watt Sony STR-K840P, with a Sony PS-LX55-II Linear tracking Turntable, what BBS do you run ??? I can upload them directly there but they are big files as I am using wave files from my Sound Blaster Audigy at 96000 khz, 24Bit and uncompressed , close to vinyl but not uite , I also have 4 SOund Design speakers, 4 SOny speakers, and a column speaker on is side, (8 speakers in it), the Sony amp is Surround Sound 5.1 and my Sound Blaster Audigy is 5.1 as well.
Love all things GWAR, but I particularly like Scumdogs of the Universe, and Bloody Pit Of Horror.

I personally liked Axl back in the day but never considered him a good singer. Its apparent now after all the cocaine and drugs that his style of singing isn't conducive to longevity. He's out of breath all the time, sings on in/out breathing cadence, just horrible.
Dio was sooooo goood with Rainbow.
Listen to Rainbow Eyes or Don't Talk to Strangers.
Listen to Rob Halford at the Whistle Stop singing Dreamer Deceiver and remember it is LIVE.

There was just something about the music on the Them album that I can't get enough of. Sorta like Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime lp... The songs all go together so well and not just because of the story.
There was actual thought behind the music on THEM and the drums were so technically sound (actually, so were Queensryche's, interesting).
When I saw KD recently I was amazed at what he really looks like in person, so not evil. And his health issues, to think he still performs.
Thanks,
Zombie Mambo
Immortal Corrupter is awesome, no denying that. How do you feel about the latest album? There is definately a few good songs on there.

Yeah even recently he just had surgery, and is recovering.. but very slowly. rom our tickets. I also love the drums on THEM, as well as Abigail. All the
RH was indeed way ahead of his time. 5 octave vocals. Insane. The problem with priest is, they did what they wanted in the beginning and were great, then they listened to record labels and tried to please fans and its been the same crap since Painkiller.
Turbo was the last good album by them. And what was great was all the 10 previous LP's leading up to turbo sounded differnt from the next.
Exactly. Most people couldn't name anyone other than KD but those musicians are hella-talented. The same is true for an untold number of bands out there.
And it isn't just metal bands.
Chili Peppers have sounded the same for over 25 years.
Same with Aerosmith.

Not anymore.
Like, Iron Maiden. I can't get into anything lately. Fear of the Dark was ok but uuuugh.
Haven't been into them since somewhere in time and 7th sign

By the way, MAN O WAR what happened to them, they were like on the brink of exploding with Blow your Speakers and then poof. Gone.
