• What a weekend!

This all started earlier in the year when I booked tickets to see The English Beat at The Canyo in Montclaire, CA. I put every purchase on my Southwest credit card so rack up airmiles which allows me to travel a bit.

Anyway, I book the hotel and 2 hours later I get a notice that the concert was rescheduled from a Friday in August to Satuday October 21st.

I complained on the band webpage and got a private message to say send my address, they'd like to make it up to me for canceling. I said no need because it cost nothing to rearrange the flight on Southwest and hotel changes are free too.

What I did see was that they were playing at The Canyon the Friday night so said I'd try to get to that show and I was told we'll be put on the guest list.

So, Friday night we land at Ontario, CA. Get an uber to the hotel and check in. Then I go searching for the concert...can't find it...why? Because it's at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, 70 miles away...and I have no car!

Quickly get a car on Expedia, then another Uber back to the airport only to find that my $70 car is not available. In fact..no cars at all. I went to Alamo and the cheapest they had was $147! Fine, took the car, hoofed it 70 miles and made it 20 minutes before showtime. It was a great show and met Dave Wakelin afterwards. Super nice guy. He's always got a story about the tour bus, but that's for another time.

ANyway, got back to the hotel. Exhaused and went straight to bed. Wake up for a nice warm shower...no hot water! WTF!? Called down, oh, they're replacing the heaters, no work on Saturday or Sunday. Nice of them to tell us before we checked in huh?

Thankfully, after that point, things went ok. We drove up Mt Baldy but it ended up costing us an unexpected fortune in Uber and Lyft rides. Next time, I think I'll just hire a car!

Overall, the pluses outweight the minuses.

Bonus...I got on Expedia chat and after 20 minutes I had them give me a $74 credit between what I should have said and what I ended up paying for car rental so I don't feel so bad about it.

Well, you have to look on the bright side. It could have been much worse. It all worked out in the end, except for the shower. I've filed a complaint so I'll see if I get anything back for that.

Oh, another thing, after I wrote that post I decided I shouldn't have to pay the difference, I had a confirmation number and as far as I'm concerned, that meant they had a car for me. It took about 20 minutes of online chat and a phone call but I managed to get an Expedia credit for $74, the difference between what I should have paid and what I ended up paying.

They originally wanted to buy me off for $25 but I wasn't accepting that.

Now I do feel much better about it all.

You're a patient guy. I would seen what was going to happen, and taken in a different concert in town. Three's man, they come in three's :-)

Glad you finally got to go see them, I was thinking about it but was a
little sad to think of Dave without Ranking Roger. Sounds like the show
    was great!

My wife once bought tickets for her mom and her to see Bryan Ferry at
the Greek Theater in Oakland. Only problem was, they were playing at the
    the Greek Theater in LA.

Exasperated, she said "How was I to know there was more than one Greek Theater". I responded that there were a lot of them, especially in
    Greece. I wasn't helpful.
