I read an article about an Illinois woman who enslaved 33 illegal immigrants. She kept them living in her basement, and got them jobs for a company, and
she took all their wages & gave them something like a handful of change every "payday."

It said she was charging them as much as $18,000 per person for her
assistance in keeping them safe from ICE and/or deportation.

Is this how we want to treat our "immigrants?" (notice how I omitted the word "illegal" because that word is not pc.)

I suppose by legalizing illegal immigration, we can stop that type of abuse, but that could only lead to other even worse problems.

Congresswoman AOC is in favor of free-range humans; no wall, just walk or
drive across national borders freely without the need for a passport.
Wouldn't that be a great thing for those of us who like to get high? If our heroin is too expensive in Texas, we could just drive down to Old El Paso &
    get an awesome discount.

What can going borderless do for our sex industry? Well, let's not get too excited just yet, but surely women who are enslaved by traffickers are going
to have great prices too. Forget about humanity, just focus on things that
    help get people elected.

What would a Kamala Harris campaign ad look like? She's in favor of
both going borderless and prostitution. For her ad, she needs young latino women, in provocative clothing, forming a large group, crossing from sand tierra to grass. Throw in some gangsta rap, and you've got yourself one hell
of an ad to appeal to many groups all at once.

That's what we have in the EU between the 26 Schengen countries ... there's no increase in drug trafficking, cross-border prostitution, illegal trades.

I can drive from the north of Finland to Gibraltar, cross 7 or 8 countries/borders without having to show any documentation and only needing to stop to refuel, pee, shit, drink, eat.

That's 4501km. Slightly more than NewYork to LA.

What prevents you from doing that now? I reckon anyone may own a passport and unless there's an arresst warrant for you, you probably are free to leave your country and come back anytime you want. Or do you need to apply for a depature permit?
Moreover, they could just go to California for some mariuana. Are there border controls at the Californian border? I think there's also one state where individuals can legally own machine guns, do they have border controls? What about driving licenses? I think the legal age varies from state to state, are there controls to prevent driving without a license?

On the other hand, your international airports do have border controls, however, Mohammed Atta managed to get from Madrid to Miami twice without the neccessary documents.

He most probably was referring the the human development index of Mexico (0.774 in 2017) being lower than those of Romania (0.811) and Bulgaria (0.813). However, Norway (0.953) does also have a higher index than the USA (0.924).

    Norway - Romania = 0.142
    USA - Mexico = 0.150

But that's the result of opering the border in 2014! In 2013 the numbers were different:
    Romania 0.785
    Bulgaria 0.777
    Norway 0.944

    Norway - Bulgaria = 0.167

That's a bigger difference than USA - Mexico is now, yet anyone from Bulgaria is free to live and work in Norway.

"No increase" does not tell me there is no problem, just that it doesn't seem to be getting worse. :)

From news reports I conclude that more drugs are entering than before, but not from within ... they enter via seaports and commercial transport (just as in the USA).... My son works at a shipping company and he says that whenever they get a shipment of bananas from South America, they never know what will be at the bottom of the containers...

I would also guess that the EU/Schengen area does not really contain any third-world countries. The countries we are connected to by land, the

Canada will not like to hear that.

While technically you are correct, it is also a fact that the only other hard border you have with a country is Mexico, and Mexico is not a 3rd world country.

For a country to join the EU there are piles and piles of requirements, and the EU will help aspiring countries to reach the same levels ... the EU will even pay for it (meaning I pay for it).

It will be more avantageous and less costly to help your southern neighbour than to build a wall, US economy would boom. As demonstrated by the EU where when you can get countries to trade with eachother, it means prosperity and peace. Seeking dominance will destroy that goal.

That's close to 18 years ago already.

    1) Having a visa or not is irrelevant in the USA to obtain a driver's license as the USA has reciprocal agreements with a lot of countries the first 90 days of your stay you can use your national license. If you stay longer you just go the bureau, produce your national-drivers license which needs to be current and you will automatically be eligible for one of that state... which then again opens up Pandora's box as you need your driver's license for a host of other things. It's the same thing for Americans staying here more than 90 days.

    2) When wanting to go to the US you now have to pass the ESTA-procedure where you electronically have to apply for permission to be allowed to travel to the USA. Costs $14 for 2 years. No ESTA? No entry. This dates from after 9/11 too.

    3) Customs now are on a pre-check basis. Because of the computers DHS knows I frequently pass the border at an airport and I am pre-cleared. There are no customs formalities anymore. Weird ... really ... but handy.

Who is to say how many states the USA can, or cannot, have?

There is no number specified in the US Constitution.

Yes, I have been stopped at the California-border when entering from

with interstate commerce. The last few times (most recently in 1994) I
was in California I was not stopped at the border (on I-80), but in the
very dim past I was (on US-99 and on US-95)

border controls at the Californian border? I think there's
    also one
state where individuals can legally own machine guns, do they
    have

That may be Kentucky. They used to have a big gun day down near Fort
    Knox
where you could bring anything and shoot it on an outdoor range.

I'm sure BATF doesn't like it, but pretty much anybody can own a
machine gun if they pay a $200 tax - which BATF will not accept if
offered, even though they were founded as a tax collection agency

    Hello Aaron,

WD> at>WD> That's what we have in the EU between the 26 Schengen countries ...
    WD>
WD> at> How many of those countries are 3rd world countries?
    WD>
WD> The same number as your 50 states..

We have different definitions of "third world countries." We also
    sometimes
call them "LDCs," or "Less Developed Countries."

We also have different mathematical rules; in the USA, you can't
    make 50 out
    of 26.

Virginia split itself into two states.

It did not. The western counties of Virginia seceded from that state
and were admitted - contrary to the provisions of the US Constitution 0-
    as a separate, new state.

Texas can split itself into multiple states.
California can split itself into multiple states.

Los Angeles got one of its pet judges to remove that measure - to split California into three states - from the ballot. That measure would
have passed by a wide margin in every part of the state except Los
    Angeles.

States can leave and become an independent state.
This has happened before. And can happen again.

That caused a war that the South lost - despite Mr. Lincoln's claim,
made in an 1848 speech, that states had the right to do exactly what
the South did. Apparently after he got into power he changed his mind.

    Really?

So I could bring my mother-in-law and shoot her?

    Where do I sign-up?

I do believe that there are restrictions on what you can shoot at. :)

Virginia split itself into two states.

Actually, three -- Kentucky back in the 1790's, and West Virginia during the 1860's are the other two.

Parts of Ohio and Indiana were also part of Virginia's territories before becoming part of another territory.

"anything" sounds pretty unrestricted by me ... 8-)
