That's not what the latest ELISTing says. :/
This is why I suggested that the real intention is not represented.

Perhaps the echo is little used for its intended purpose, then.
OTOH, my N640C is an ex-sysop (and ex-NC) from Zone 6. There's another ex-Z 6 refugee listed in Net633. So, the potential is there. There may be other lurking...
Maybe the echo's moderator needs to advertise the echo... more widely? ;)

When I think of Asia I think of chinese food, anime, nintendo and sega.
And the air doesn't smell like Nintendo anymore. :(

I appreciate the research! But new people wouldnt realize how/where/necessi to dig up the old elist.rpt files. And.. the descriptions *can* change over the years. Maybe Carol now wants a more generic/all-encompassing chat as opposed to one focused on Asian culture.
Ciao!

The beauty of Telegram (+ @Fido2telebot) is that it opens
access to some Fidonet echos for ALL smartphone users,
initially.
Then, if there is an alternative laptop/desktop option, maybe
that person could be persuaded to enter the Fidonet world for a
totally immersive experience?
Android users could be persuaded to try Aftershock or HotdogEd.
It's really up to users/moderators of this world to educate.
But Telegram (+ @Fido2telebot) is the only option for iPhone
users.
Getting started with Telegram is just TWO steps:
[1] Install Telegram
[2] Send %HELP and %LIST to the @Fido2telebot to get started!
Do Aftershock/HotdogEd make it easier than that? :D

Exactly and I like it! We move forward, or die.
The screen is not ideal for incoming originally wide lines (the
body of the text tends to honour the presence of hard CRs., and
the since the screen is a perfect 2"x2" square, there is no
landscape-view option.
However, I understand that smartphones with 16:9 screens can be
tilted horizontally to get a better representation of some
messages that arrive in the original 70-80char per line form.
And.. I also use the desktop version which I find is the
easiest way to produce a reply.

Does anyone know an iPhone user who you could entice to give
the Telegram + @Fido2telebot solution a try?
I use it on a modest Blackberry Q10 (Android 4.3) myself. The

One thing that I never understood about Z5 and Z6 demise is that at leas here, in Latin America, we have a strong retrocomputing community, so every and then someone from our glorious past joins back to the family. In a slow pace, but steady, we were able to add 10 systems to Argentina, Brazil and Panama in the last 5 years.
It's been a while since Z5 and Z6 are gone... There should have been someone on that area willing to come back...
