Just haven't had much free time for anything over the last
five years with the job change. On call literally about
335 days a year.

Finished book 1 of the Murderbot Diaries, in 3 nights: All
Systems Red. Not bad. It presumes a world of cyborgs with semi- sentient capabilities. Written from the 1st person of the
cyborg for the most part.
Been a while since I just sat down and had time for reading anything. Considering going through my dad's old books (all on Calibre). Mostly scifi stuff. That or I may reread the Dark Tower series.

... Beer: So much more than a breakfast drink.
mmercedes Lackey, 'Foundation' series. Set in Valdarmar,
it's the establishment of the true Herald Colleguim
(Collage) vice the earlier one mentor and 1-4 students.
Post Vanyel times but not too distant.
Just finished Daemon by Daniel Suarez.

Ends with a clear cliff-hanger. Apparently Freedom follows and
concludes the journey.
If you liked Daemon, you might also like Zero Day by David Baldacci:

If you liked Daemon..
interesting that bill gates mentions that the author used to work for microsoft:
"<<Mark came to Microsoft in 2006 to help advance the state of the art
of Windows, now in his latest compelling creation he is raising
awareness of the all too real threat of cyber terrorism.>> --Bill
Gates"
So.. are you familiar with it? It is an interesting techo-
thriller with almost-sufficient-enough technical explanation.
The only part that I found hard believing were the AutoM8s and
the killer motorcycles.
The "reverse concept" of a backdoor seemed unique and well
imagined.
I thought this was interesting too:
"Daniel Suarez (born December 21, 1964) is a former American
information technology consultant turned author. He initially
published under the pseudonym Leinad Zeraus (his name spelled
backwards)."

Only thing I've read by Lackey is some of the Darkover stuff and that was a long time ago. Looking at her bibliography she's done quite a bit. May need give it a look.
