The border between Saudi Arabia and Qatar seems to be reopening after years. Qatar has been in political isolation since 2017. As a result, the busy air traffic from Qatar to Egypt, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and the Emirates came to a standstill.
The cause of the quarrel lies in the religious-political sphere: Qatar is accused of supporting terrorist groups in the region.
On the eve of an important international conference in Saudi Arabia, a solution has now been found to the quarrel between the Saudis and Qatar. Kuwait and the US mediate in the conflict.
The deal would mean that both Qatar Airways and Saudi Arabian Airlines can once again operate flights between Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Also, Qatar Airways no longer has to avoid Saudi airspace on flights to the west.
