Yes.. TgM requires a phone number that can receive the initial
registration passcode as a text to create an account.
As for relevance to fidonet, the TgM gate that Stas @2:460/5858
has produced moves messages between the traditional FTN
environment and TgM. The idea is that a TgM user can have
quick and simple access to echomail on a smartphone.
The TgM+gate approach is not much different what Jamnntp does
to bring echomail to newsreader users.
But unlike nntp or point-softare, TgM only requires one
registration to get activated, and then if you have the TgM app
installed on either a tablet, pc or smartphone, you can switch
between any of those devices and be totally sync'd on all of
them at any time.
