    I am really interested in getting an offline reader going,, I used to know
    how to do it back in the 90's sadly I do not even know where to start now. Anyone feeling like dumming it down for me? Would be much appreciated..

    I suggest installing Multimail for whatever OS you're running on your local machine. Configure it so that the upload and wnload directories correspond to where your terminal program downloads to and uploads from.

    Once Multimail is setup, log into the BBS, go to the offline mail section (exact means is BBS dependent). Most BBSs only offer QWK, which does work well. I prefer Bluewave where available, but modern QWK implementations have a similar feature set.

    You will need to select the message areas to download (i.e. the ones you want to read), and there's options to configure the mail packet. If QWKE is offered, enable it. That enables long subject lines and other useful enhancements to QWK. Multimail can handle QWKE.

    Anyway, because there's a lot of BBS specific stuff here, it's best to deal with issues as they crop up.

    yeah, the email tool... he's saying that you can use the news group part of TB and set the area(s) to offline mode... then all you need to do is connect, pull the new messages, disconnect, and read them offline... if you write replies, they will be sent the next time you go online, IIRC... of course, this means that you'll be using a bbs' news server to access their message areas instead of logging into the bbs and pulling the mail for use with QWK or BW readers...

    Yep. I find this way much easier than downloading/uploading BW/QWK/REP
    packets. :)
